The four ethical issues that could arise when storing electronic information about individuals would be privacy, security, errors, and data consent. Privacy would be one of the main ethical issues because it’s important when it comes to electronic information being stored. This can depend on the security of the electronic information because if the security is not strong and easy for cyber attackers to bypass then the private information can be at risk of being stolen. Privacy can range from financial information, user accounts, medical information, or even something that is meant to be private. For example, government information needs privacy because they carry certain documents or information that may be classified in a system of theirs, if leaked or stolen this could put the country in jeopardy and cause unlikely events. Just like privacy, security is also important for storing electronic information about individuals. Everything online needs security such as user accounts and certain information online but having weak security can cause issues where cyber attackers may gain access to private information. For instance, passwords are used by everyone in the world to gain access to their own accounts, having a weak password can cause cyber attackers to easily gain access to accounts by trying to simple guesses. Different security implementations like two-factor authentication can help build stronger security to prevent unauthorized users from accessing private information. The third ethical issue would be errors because this can cause confusion and maybe harm. There can be financial errors for an individual that can cause them to lose money or there was information that was released that had errors that may have caused disruption and confusion among people. The last ethical issue would be data consent from information being stored. There can be companies or certain organizations where individuals have private information stored in their database, these companies or organizations may try to use individuals’ information for different purposes where an individual may have consented to something. When it comes to cybersecurity risks America is a big target of potential attacks from other countries and inside of the country itself, this could be certain hacker organizations or just cybercriminals in general. Unlike America which is one of the biggest targets for cyber-attacks and vulnerabilities, another country like Japan experiences the same issues. Japan’s technology is pretty advanced, and they also deal with other countries trying to commit cyber attacks to gain private information on the country. Also, just like America, they are prone to malware attacks and phishing attacks, this comes to show that multiple countries are prone to having cybersecurity risks.
