Prompt: Review the articles linked with each individual motive in the presentation page or Slide #4. Rank the motives from 1 to 7 as the motives that you think make the most sense (being 1) to the least sense (being 7). Explain why you rank each motive the way you rank it.

In regards to the rankings of each of the motives toward cyber crime, in my personal they rank as follows:
1. Political – A large number of tech inclined individuals see a number of issues in society. And due to this and the inability for government to change promptly when issues come up, they put fixing the issue into their own hands via hacktivism.

2. Recognition – Some hackers tend to just want people to know they have a large skill set. Due to some activities being illegal they decide to prove their skill by attacking or hacking certain tech so that everyone knows they did it. It is a foolish motive but it is a true one.

3.For Money – Ransom is also a big reason why people or corporation’s get hacked. They hack these groups and hold their information or systems hostage until they receive money. This tends not to work in the long run but as new technologies are created such as good crypto tumblers, I don’t expect these events to slow down.

4. Entertainment – This one is rather foul along with the ones that follow. Some people just want to watch the world and corporations burn. So they hack just to see the companies and people scramble to the safety of pre attack.

5. Boredom – This goes hand in hand with the last motive. People sometimes have nothing better to do so they will end up attacking peoples systems in events such as DDoS attacks.

6. Revenge – These events tend to occur in reply to corporations taking advantage of their works or when relationships turn sour. These have no real backing outside of the user being upset with their circumstances and wanting to take it out on those responsible for their troubles.

7. Multiple Reasons – This basically is just a cover all for every other reason listed above. Sometimes even the vanity and success shown in movies like “Wargames” and shows like “Mr. Robot”.
