Prompt: Complete the Social Media Disorder scale. How did you score? What do you think about the items in the scale? Why do you think that different patterns are found across the world?
I actually scored a 0 on the social media disorder scale. Seeking out social media at any chance possible simply isn’t something that I strive for or even look forward to. The terms in the scale were somewhat interesting as well. The document used words such as “neglecting activities” and “having a serious argument of social media” which entails that social media almost has a control over peoples lives, which in some ways it does. Patterns like this are found all across the world because social media and online standing is something that is similar across the world. I know two people who live in complete parts of the world who have paid money to retrieve their social media accounts from hackers holding their accounts hostage. Which just goes to show how much of an influence social media has and how much of a vulnerability it can be towards users.
