Why am I interested in cybersecurity technology?

Cybersecurity has been a rapidly expanding concept over the years. With technology continuously evolving, cybersecurity has become a necessary asset. Cybersecurity helps ensure the protection of individuals’ personal information and also the sensitive information of organizations worldwide. With that being said, I feel that possessing cyber skills is very beneficial. Not only will cyber skills help myself, but I will be able to contribute my skills to helping other individuals and organizations.

I am currently in Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NROTC). Once I graduate I plan to protect my country as a Naval Officer. Cybersecurity is one of the best ways to defend my country. Cybersecurity keeps becoming more important in the military As I stated previously, technology is always evolving. This means that cyber attackers are getting more advanced. We need as many people to be equipped with cyber skills in order to prevent these attackers from succeeding in their missions.

Another reason I am interested in cybersecurity technology is because I have always been intrigued by technology. I grew up around phones, computers, and consoles. I always knew I wanted to do something involving computers in the future. However, I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do exactly. When I was deciding my major, I immediately knew that I wanted to do something involving technology. I did a bit of research on the different technological majors, and my research led me to majoring in cybersecurity.

Overall, I feel that cybersecurity is a huge contribution to the protection of many individuals personal information. A lack of cybersecurity could be detrimental to the safety and welfare of the individuals of the United States. This automatically put cybersecurity on my radar for what I wan to do in the future. I truly just wanted to do anything to help others, and my path ended up leading me to cybersecurity technology.
