With the advancement of technology, Cybersecurity has made a name for itself globally, ensuring companies, businesses, and the people are well protected from cyber hacks that infiltrate data bases and steal valuable information. These hackers try everything in their power to receive valuable information. Sometimes these so-called “hackers” can even be closer than you think. Cyber technology has created workplace deviance, which is any unethical or unlawful action made by employees. It has made it easier for deviances to occur especially because of technology and the fact that anything can be accessed from a computer. It is always easier to do certain things especially due to it being behind a computer screen, rather than having to do it face to face. With that the unlawful action comes into play, employees that work in the cyber field understand the many ways to break into sensitive data. Lots of employees bake into their workplaces data and either leak that information or sell it to other sources, causing the company to lose sensitive information or even millions of dollars. Sometimes the trustful employees just make a simple mistake that costs the company money and their data. They can accidentally shut down their security system leaving the computer at risk of cyber attack. This can leave the risk of hackers entering the system and stealing critical information from the company. Cyber technology has created these new opportunities, because it is much harder to find the individual that is creating all this harm behind a computer compared to someone doing it face to face. Main ways to stop workplace deviance is to ensure that employees have a strict background check. This will ensure that the person does not have any crimes related to stealing of information and selling. Another main thing that can be enforced is not letting the employees bring in their personal items to work, such as computers, phones, electronic watches, and bluetooth devices. These things will ensure that workplace deviance will not occur in the work environment.
