The principles of science and cybersecurity have a lot in common, both fields rely on observation, experimentations, and evidence-based reasoning to understand and address problems. One thing that they both use is empirical observation, Just like how scientists use experiments and observations to learn about our world. Cybersecurity individuals watch computer systems and networks very closely. Looking for odd patterns or signs that could mean trouble, someone trying to break in this can help them understand the risks and how to keep information safe. Another thing could be hypothesis testing, within science when we think we’ve figured out how something works or why it happens we call it a “guess” or a “hypothesis.” In cybersecurity, it is a similar way. When an individual in cybersecurity notices something strange that could mean a threat to the computer system, they make a hypothesis about what is happening. Then they began testing, for example trying to break into their own systems or studying past attacks, to see if the hypothesis is correct.
