Students will learn about the basic installation and configuration, file systems management, shell scripts, and user authentication in Linux systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Introduce the basic concept and knowledge about different Linux distros, including<br>the most popular distribution for cybersecurity, Kali Linux,<ul><li>Install and operate different Linux distros locally and remotely (on AWS<br>cloud),<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Understand the ownership and permissions of the files and directories,<\/li><\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand the shell scripts,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform essential system administration functions, such as network configuration,<br>process and log administration, and software management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform security tasks, such as foot printing, firewalls, and tools in relation<br>to Intrusion Detection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Expected Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Perform the essential system administration functions in Linux systems. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write shell scripts to automate tasks in Linux systems. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform the necessary security tasks to secure the Linux system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reflection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To be completely transparent, I had no experience with Linux or working on the command line. There were many challenges, mainly in memorizing commands and misspelling commands. Though I still struggle to remember commands, with practice I will become more familiar with them.
