How do engineers make cyber networks safer?

Cybersecurity engineers play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and security of cyber networks. Cyber networks are always vulnerable to malicious attacks and thus can never be too secure. Engineers are responsible for solving and avoiding any form of potential vulnerabilities cyber networks may have. Not only do they create cyber networks but they also ensure that those networks are running securely. Cybersecurity engineers are essentially responsible for testing and screening security software and foreseeing any future security breaches or threats to those networks. These engineers have to not only foresee security attacks before they even occur but they also have to adequately plan and prepare in the case of an attack occurring. The duties of a cybersecurity engineer are very important as it includes developing security standards, solving existing security issues, installing security software such as firewalls and data encryption programs, and monitoring cyber networks for security intrusions. These engineers also work alongside tech companies and businesses since they report security breaches to management and recommend security enhancements to them as well. Additionally, when engineers work for companies they have certain responsibilities to uphold like administering network security hardware, enforcing the company’s security policies, and following the company’s security audit requirements. Without engineers, computer systems and networks would not be as advanced or secure as they are today. Cybersecurity programs would not be upheld or well facilitated. Cyber attacks would be at an all-time high and there would be an unprecedented amount of cybercriminals on the internet plotting for their next attack. The work cybersecurity engineers do never ends as cybertechnology is continuously changing and advancing. As technology evolves and the accessibility to the internet increases, cyber-attacks are becoming more and more common. Engineers must continue to create and maintain secure networks for the welfare of the public.
