You can tell if your computer is safe by getting a better detection system. 3 ways that computers have made the world safer are making it easier to communicate, greater use of confirming our own identity, and technological advances in medicine to improve our healthcare. 3 ways that it has made it less safe are given more access and vulnerability to cyber-attacks, technology has also made us develop more a crutch on relying on it, and it takes up a lot of time away from old ways of traditional communication. A common cyber security solution is to use an intrusion detection system to establish a baseline of what traffic is allowed and what traffic is not allowed on our computer and to notify us if we are targeted by cyberattacks such as distributed denial of service or ransomware.
Computers have made it easier to communicate by allowing us to text or call immediately. Platforms such as Facebook have also made communication and sharing of a lot of our daily lives to a lot of our friends and family much easier than previously when we would need to send post cards or only see each other for holidays and dedicated events. Another thing that has improved our safety and our data’s safety is the increased use and development of biometrics by allowing us to use face recognition and fingerprints. Technology and computers have also made it much easier and safer the world by affecting our healthcare system with innovative technologies to help us live longer and allowing healthcare providers to streamline information.
Although we gained a lot of positives from computers, we also have been trending many more cybersecurity attacks because there is a larger focus and opportunity now to gather valuable information and/or steal money from companies and consumers. Some people have become too reliant on computers, for example instead of learning how to read a map, we have learned to rely more on our map routes on our phones to get to and back from work. Lastly, computers have taken up a lot of how we used to communicate with our friends and family because most people are always attached to their phones or computers, we do not take the time to look around us or get to know or help the person that may need us because we are too preoccupied with the latest Tik Tok or Facebook post.
