The reason I am interested in cybersecurity technology is because I understand the technology is constantly evolving and becoming such an ingrained part of our lives and I want to learn what systems are protections are in place to protect us and our data. I selected 4 other majors to speak about and how they are impacted by cybersecurity technology: Accounting, Criminal Justice, Electrical Engineering Technology, and International Business.

In accounting, typically they are responsible for maintaining the finances of a company. Being that most of companies are going away from paper and relying on technology and computers cybersecurity is necessary to protect those records and any personal identifying information that a company may have such as social security numbers, individual taxpayer identification numbers, names of customers or employees, addresses, etc.

Criminal Justice is my major and that is a reason I chose it to see how it was affected by cybersecurity technology. Most crimes today are white collar crimes involved with technology. These crimes are easily overseen typically by lack of oversight so cybersecurity technology is an important piece not only in preventing crime but also detection of it.

Electrical Engineering Technology is important to me being an Electrician in the US Navy currently. Most things are powered by electricity and if schematics of any system were not properly protected criminals could use that information to shut down power to security systems. I see all the security features the military uses to protect information from falling into the wrong

hangs, it typically feels like an uphill battle but cybersecurity will continue to grow and protect us.

Lastly, I chose International Business because technology has made it possible for us all around the world to be connected. As international business major typically can help companies internationally with reducing their costs and increasing their profit. An essential part of protecting that information again goes to cybersecurity. Companies domestic and abroad need to protect themselves and customers against cyber-attacks such as DDOS which can overload or shut down their website.

Growing up in poverty, I had my first smartphone when I got my first job at 16 and did not get a laptop until I was 20. I did not learn to type until I went to college. I feel as if I am very behind most people with technology; my expectation and one of the biggest reasons I am interested in cybersecurity technology would be to learn more about technology, cybersecurity, and challenge myself in learning something I have stayed away from most of my life. Regardless of majors, as technology develops our cybersecurity efforts and understanding of technology must also develop.
