Today’s technological advancements do not come without threats, and ensuring that your system and computer is safe has never been more terrifying. However, there are several ways to tell if you are safe from cyber threats through all of your devices and networks. Anti-virus software is essential for cybersecurity and ensuring your computers safety. It detects and removes malware, viruses, and other malicious software that may have infected your computer. Be sure to keep the software up to date to reduce the risk of cyber attack on your computer. Most new computers come with a built-in firewall so there’s no extra equipment or software to buy. Firewalls can help prevent unauthorized access to your computer and protect sensitive information from being stolen. Firewalls are network security systems that monitor and control incoming and outgoing network traffic based on predetermined security rules. Often times will alert you when you need to allow something through the firewall and onto your computer.

Computers often have a feature that can allow automatic updates to ensure your operating system is up to date before and when you use it. Regularly updating your software can mitigate the known vulnerabilities and exploits, making it harder for the user to targeted by a cyber threat. Another issue that is very common is password security. Ensuring you have a strong password and not using the same one for multiple accounts could help lower the risk for any cyber attacks/threats. The overall subject is to keep a close eye on your computer. Make sure that you keep things up to date and nothing is out of the ordinary. If your computer is behaving abnormally, such as running slower than usual or displaying pop-up ads, it could be a sign of a cyber attack. If you notice any suspicious activity, you should immediately run a virus scan and should begin to take steps against and should contact a cybersecurity professional if necessary.

My computer is safe because I follow steps and protocol that keep it safe and keep myself safe. I’m not perfect but I do try to follow the rules of cybersecurity. It is crucial to stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and trends and take proactive steps to protect your computer and sensitive information. I find it beneficial that some of my friends major in cybersecurity allowing me to keep up with the latest and worst, and act accordingly.
