What is the overlap between criminal justice and cybercrime? How does this overlap relate to the other disciplines discussed in this class? (A11)

Cybercrime and criminal justice overlap where cybercrime is an area of study within the domain of criminal justice.  Criminologists do a good job of defining what would be deemed as illegal and unethical.  This includes really intricate policies with even more intricacies within that determined crime.  Cybercrime is not quite easily defined as a black and white / “good or bad” action of doing.  There are many takes and beliefs as to what laws should be passed regarding cybercrime and what vantage point it should be developed from, i.e., either a “harm” perspective or an “ethical” perspective, etc. cybercrime has been evolving drastically since technology grows so rapidly and there simply are not enough laws put in play to act as left and right lateral limits for a user of technology.  This is a problem too, however, as too many laws lead to an authoritarian and overly censored way of life.  We see some of these problems in some countries.  Technology is inherently in everything that we use and do now these days.  Ergo, this issue needs to be addressed more.  The overlap and the overall topic of cybercrime and criminal justice overlap in many areas that we have learned so far.  For one, we can assess and validate that cybercrime happens everywhere and all the time, however in the engineering systems, we have found out that if someone or something were to compromise our systems via the conduct of cybercrime, our entire economy could come crashing down.  This stands to say that we need to have criminal justice departments to ensure that there are laws, rules, and regulations regarding the use of technology and a way to punish someone if they commit cybercrime towards those systems.  This also parallels with the fact that criminal justice systems need to put regulations in place for organizations to follow in order to fortify their selves as best as they can in order to keep their systems safeguarded from cybercrime.
