CYSE 368 is a course that revolves around an internship completed by students during
the Old Dominion University Cybersecurity undergraduate program. The purpose of this course
is to gain practical work experience and document the knowledge and skills gained through the
course of the internship. Throughout this course, I was required to secure an internship and
complete a minimum of 150 hours of work during a semester. My internship was at a company
called IP Configure. Every 50 hours, I was required to write a reflection on what I had learned
and how I felt about the experience. Finally, I wrote a reflection paper discussing the entirety of
my internship process, including pictures of the work I had completed.

The skills I gained from my internship are invaluable. While I had previously been employed
at other organizations, this was my first exposure to an office environment. This internship built
upon my basic understanding of hardware and software configurations. After a few months with
this organization, I was able to assemble and maintain servers and computer hardware, manage
BIOS settings, and navigate Windows and Linux command lines. Time management,
accountability, and leadership were also key takeaways from this experience as I was required to
complete tasks in a timely manner, record my hours and productivity, and train new hires on the
process of assembling, imaging, and packaging various servers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
