CYSE 600 has been an invaluable tool in strengthening my knowledge of key cybersecurity concepts. MY undergraduate career provided me with a strong foundation in topics related to cybersecurity. Taking CYSE 600 while studying for the CompTIA Security+ exam has been incredibly helpful. Although I have yet to pass the Security+ exam, I believe completing this course has put me in a strong position to take it. The labs provided valuable hands-on learning opportunities that have subsequently increased my proficiency in network security, cryptography, access controls, and risk management. Most importantly, I learned why security technologies are important and how they can be implemented to benefit an organization. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most significant Challenge that I encountered throughout this course was completing the unguided labs. Generally, each module contained two guided labs with detailed instructions, while the third lab would present a series of tasks without providing the steps to complete them. Completing these unguided labs required recalling steps from previous steps and researching the processes described in the assignment. An exceptionally useful tool provided was the links that provided explanations of the tasks. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills were always critical for completing the labs, as the links provided a general explanation of the process rather than exact steps. Completing the unguided labs was always the most rewarding, as at the end I felt confident enough to complete the tasks without detailed instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firstly, I will apply the knowledge and practical skills that I have learned from completing CYSE 600 by taking the CompTIA Security+ exam. Apart from gaining a certification, I hope to use the skills I have gained in a professional role. Through completing this course, I have gained skills to identify vulnerabilities, implement security controls, and contribute to maintaining secure networks.
