Describe three ways that computers have made the world safer and less safe.
There have been many ways that computers have made us both safer in some areas while less safe in others. For example some ways that computers have made us safer is quicker access to emergency services such as the police, ambulance, and firefighters. Your phone is just a handheld computer that has limitless uses when it comes to providing you with safety. As said it provides quick access to emergency services but also it has been said by multiple recourses that just having a phone on you can act as a deterrent against someone committing a crime to you or around you. Next computers also make us safer by supplying us with knowledge that can help better prepare us for situations that can be dangerous. On the contrary computers also open a wide variety of dangers to us. Everything from your personnel accounts, financial information, location, and even your computer software programs themselves are at risk when using a computer. With how much we access the internet everyday and interact with one another there is bound to be an individual out there that wants to exploit that interaction for their own personnel gain. Just like in the real world in person where people will try to rob and steal there are people who want to take advantage of your lack of computer knowledge and take your personal information or belongings. In some cases, hackers may monetize your stolen data by using it themselves to make purchases or commit fraud, or they will retrieve access directly to your personnel bank information and use your card that way. They can also use other methods such as blackmail by getting something you don’t want going on the internet and threatening to release it unless you give them something in return.
