The four other majors that relate to cybersecurity in my opinion are Information Technology, Information Technology and Decision Sciences, Computer science, and computer engineering. All of these majors share the same kingdom, many of these degrees from each major could be used in many ways for each other major which is very beneficial. Information technology is more of the art of coding, while computer science is more of the math aspect, that is what I was always taught throughout high school, but the benefit is that you will always be able to find a home or better the skills needed for each profession. Computer engineering on the other hand is more of the “creator” if you will, creating the computer, bettering the mobility and usability of the computer, while IT and decision sciences is the analytical business side. These are all so similar yet so distant even though these topics sound narrow they are broad topics for a huge variety of jobs in each sector. Each degree depends on which path you want to take. Even personally finding myself which path for me was hard, it can be very difficult to find what path you take, the reasoning is that with some majors depending on the courses you take you may not be able to transfer over credits to another degree due to the requirements. The most similar degrees are computer science and cybersecurity at odu if I am not mistaken, I still remember orientation when I had decided to switch from computer science to cybersecurity, the course requirements were almost identical but my counselor had shown me a website with data on which professions are in the area for my major and the salary being, after talking to my counselor and finding out what path was best for me, the goal was certain.
