Information Science “Information science includes any professional who works with, researches about, or learns about the management of information in any form…storing, retrieving, describing, organizing, representing, or providing information to others” (Association for Information Science & Technology):
Looks at ways data is stored and how to protect the stored data. Relates to cybersecurity directly because cybersecurity also seeks to protect data.
Information Technology (IT) is defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) as “the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software applications and computer hardware.”:
Encompasses computing and networking systems to include hardware and software. Again, cybersecurity seeks to protect computing and networking systems from outside penetration.
Engineering “Engineers apply the principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between scientific discoveries and the commercial applications that meet societal and consumer needs.” (Bureau of Labor Statistics):
Cybersecurity has to be a primary concern for engineers in designing software, hardware, and other computer and networking components.
Computer Science “Computer Science is the study of phenomena related to computers” (Newell, Perlis, and Simo, 1967):
Largely programming, again in software design intended for connected devices, security has to be a primary concern.
