How does cyber technology impact interactions between offenders and victims?
As we have seen cyber technology reaches a broad spectrum of things. One of these things is the interaction between offenders and victims, and how it affects it. Offenders and Victims both go online to have some type of self-pleasure. Offenders will commit cybercrimes like hacking into someone’s account or piracy just for themselves. These offenders will look for their victims by finding people who are on often and that are a little careless of what they open. This will allow the offender to send something that will allow them to have access to the victim’s account or device. For example, the offender can send malware through a fake link, and the victim just opens it just thinking it is a link to a website they are comfortable with. By opening this link allows the malware to be on the device and gives the offender access. Another way offenders can get victims is by hacking them. If the offender knows that the victim has valuable information and/or weak cybersecurity systems, they will target them. They will try to find a vulnerability in the security system and try to copy or steal this information for their own gain. This information can be very personal information that can lead to identity theft or just stealing credit card information so they can use it for themselves. So, as we can see that technology has made the interaction with offenders and victims pretty easy. With technology, offenders can hide their real identities and act like anyone to gain the trust of a victim. Making it easy for victims to become victims. This is why those who become victims or can need to be aware of these threats, and be wary of offenders. Also, they should find a security system that can protect them better if they keep personal information online
