How should we approach the development of cyber-policy and -infrastructure given the “short arm” of predictive knowledge?
With the rise of cybercrime, the threat of them has risen tremendously recently. Meaning more and more businesses are taking these more seriously because one of these attacks can really cause financial damages and ruin peoples’ lives. This is why businesses need to take action and prepare themselves for any possible attacks that could come their way. Because more and more companies are storing information on networks and they need to protect this information. One thing they can have in place is insurance, this will help cover any information lost or damage from a cybercrime. But this is the only consistent policy that companies can put in place. This is because as technology advances, it means new ways that attackers can try to get into their systems. This means that there are no set-in-stone policies they can set. So, they will have to prepare for any type of risk that could happen. They can have a cybersecurity system, this can help cover vulnerabilities. Keep workers informed about potential risks that are out there. Also, keep things up to date the best they can. These things are ways businesses can prepare themselves for the best for some things that are always changing. It will not protect them from everything but will lower the risk for the business. I personally think this is how things are gonna be for a long time because advancements in technology keep happening. There will most likely never be proper set-in-stone policies that every business should set in place to help protect themselves. So, in conclusion, since there are no clear-cut policies besides companies having insurance. The only thing they can do is implement a security system that can constantly grow with the advancement of technology, so they can try to be prepared for any possible threat and lower their chances of being attacked.
