Select four other majors offered by ODU and explain how those majors relate to cybersecurity.

When thinking about cybersecurity and what other major that ODU offers, cybersecurity can relate to most of them in a way. Let’s start with the business field and focus on one of its majors I believe would relate well with cybersecurity. First, is people who major in Finance. People in this field will be working with sensitive information about people’s credit card information and other information about money at their job. Since most of this might be done on the internet, they will need some type of computer/information security to protect this information from anyone who tries to take it. In the science department, medical majors would relate also. These medical workers will be working with patients’ personal information like credit cards, insurance, social security, and just their health. Most of this information will be on paper files but some will electronically be filed too. This is where cybersecurity majors relate because they are meant to help protect this information like this from being taken. Two other majors that will relate would be anyone in education and engineering. With education, these majors will be responsible for students’ grades and other private information that will be most likely on the internet. Then with engineers, do research and build things. So, if their research is stolen someone else can take the credit. Also with engineers with the things they build, some are buildings, and if people want to cause major damage to these buildings they will just need to take blueprints and find weak spots of it. Almost all of the information is on the computer and needs to be protected from people who wish to do bad things with it.
