Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

I am interested in cybersecurity technology because since I was teenager I have been working with technology. It has always came natural to me. My first interactions with technology were with cellphones but later I gravitated more to computers. The first time I worked with computers was fixing my grandma’s desktop. While it was something simple like fixing network issues or showing her how to use it, it was fulfilling to me. I slowly became the family computer girl. Fast forward to 2019 and I decided to major in computer science. I know your probably wondering how I got to cybersecurity. After many failed calculus classes and experiencing my first intro cybersecurity course I slowly started to feel like I was in the right place again. Cybersecurity is more of what I thought computer science would be. I like the idea of troubleshooting to improve. Also, security and privacy are a ever growing problem in the technology industry and I would love to be apart of fixing it. Cybersecurity plays a significant role in securing the privacy of everyone who uses smart devices in their daily lives. Data privacy issues arise everyday in businesses, governments, and personal lives. Cybersecurity is the key to this issue and the more we learn about it the more we decrease the issue. Cyber attackers are only getting better at their jobs and financial systems, healthcare networks, and more are looking for new and innovative ways to be protected. Don’t get me wrong computer science definitely has aspects that I like but right now cybersecurity feels more of my speed. It is almost as if I am a guardian of technology protecting it from constant threats. I hope to one day be a leader in the cybersecurity field and even discover something new and revolutionary for cybersecurity.
