The four majors that come to mind relating to cybersecurity at Old Dominion University are electrical engineering, computer science, information technology, and criminal justice. Electrical engineering deals with the study of electricity and electronics. Cybersecurity is a part of all electronics because they need security. Computer science is the study of computer systems and software, and cybersecurity secures those systems using software. Old Dominion University has a minor for cybersecurity within the computer science program as well. Information technology, the study of using various technologies to manage and process information, is related to cybersecurity because it uses the data that cybersecurity works to protect. Lastly, criminal justice, the study of laws, law enforcement, and the judicial system. It is related to cybersecurity because hacking and using data for illegal purposes is criminal activity.
