Every country has its own set of rules and regulations when it comes to electronic data protection, but do they share the same risk? Let’s compare China and the Unites States cybersecurity risks. First, I want to consider the threats both countries face. Then, I will compare their infrastructures and regulations. Threats to the United States include other countries like China, Russia, and North Korea. On top of other countries the United States must also look out for small cyber crime groups, inside threats, and individual hackers. China has similar threats to the United States, but is strict on online content and tightly monitors internet activity. The United States has seen more cyber threats recently from China. When it comes to regulating the United States has various laws and policies protecting electronic data. HIPPA, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the Federal Information Security Modernization Act are just a few of the policies and regulations put in place to protect privacy. China has laws and regulations as well, but they have way more control over the internet. Censorship and surveillance is used to monitor very closely. The United States infrastructure is developed, but not as developed as China. China is a leader in technology infrastructure, especially e-commerce and telecommunications. Overall, the United States and China face similar risk. However, they seem to handle it differently.
