Engineers make cyber networks safer by first assessing the risk at hand. Risk assessments identify threats and vulnerabilities in the infrastructure. Once the risk are known they are ordered from most to least important. Second, based off the risk engineers design and implement a infrastructure to defend against them. Cybersecurity technology like, firewalls, encryption, and access controls are used to defend against attacks. After the infrastructure is implemented it has to continuously be managed and monitored to be maintained. To monitor engineers may use threat detection to respond to incidents. Lastly, engineers make a plan for recovery in the event of a data breach. By taking these measures engineers make cyber networks safer and reduce incidents.
