- When selecting classes for this summer my friend who’s in the same major recommended me this class. Last semester I was informed by my advisor that would most likely need a minor with my major to get the rest of my credits. So, while looking at possible ones to pick one that caught my eye was cybersecurity. So, with that I thought that cybersecurity would be a possible minor I could see myself doing in the future. So, I want to learn more about cybersecurity to see if this would be a good option for a minor. See what career opportunities come with having cybersecurity as a minor with criminal justice as a major. So, I’m hoping that after taking this course this summer I can be confident with having this as a minor. Once I know that the careers offered for cybersecurity work for me, I’ll be sure to set this as my minor. Also, cybersecurity is used so much in modern life that it can really be helpful to learn. These are all my reasons for why I’m interested in cybersecurity.
- Majors that relate to cybersecurity include cybercrime which requires employees to have technical skills and knowledge of cybersecurity. Also, criminal justice is another because there’s crime that also takes place online, so both require each other’s assistance. Computer engineering has six broad areas that graduates study one of those includes cybersecurity engineering. The other five areas are systems, signal and images processing, physical electronics, computer engineering, and modeling and simulation engineering. The final major I selected is computer science which requires that a person have a wide knowledge of technology skills, programming, systems engineering, networking, and security. There are more majors that relate to cybersecurity, but I think these were some of the best options out of all the other majors.
