The overlap between criminal justice and cybercrime would be that both can possibly be seen as organized crime. With technology advancing more and more everyday cybercrime is slowly but surely rising. Rising as we speak, especially here in the United States where we have the highest rate of cybercrime and cyber-attacks and with Russia and China right behind us we need to the help of criminal justice to help us understand these crimes so we can stop them.

As well as the use of Digital Forensics to aids in figuring out where and how these crimes are happening. Another overlap that can be pointed out would be that the crimes that are committed through criminal justice and cybercrime are more likely to be intentional crimes. Criminologist looked into the researched the cause of cyber offending/ victimization and the results that they concurred were that the self-control and the neutralization theory played a factor into why they were committing these crimes as per the notes. As per the notes the discipline of Criminal Justice and Cybersecurity criminologists help showing pervasions of cybercrime. With that being said people who graduate can very much find a career in a field that is cyber related.

The way that this overlaps into other disciplines that we have discussed in this class can be traced back to Module 6: Cybersecurity, Technology, and workplace behavior. In that module we were specifically we were first introduced to what cybercrime is and how it differentiates from white collar crimes. We also in this module we went more in depth about the demographic of cyber offenders which are people who tend to be younger. And how these acts are usually have more of an international focus and the specialized police units assigned to deal with that type of crime. The different forms of crime were also talked about such as hacking, which is the most prevalent, cyberstalking, etc.
