I am interested in cybersecurity technology because as I have grown up since I was a little girl, I have noticed the steady increase of technology use around me. Mostly everything around us nowadays can be done with the use of technology. Growing up I have constantly been around law enforcement with my dad being a sergeant for the Chesapeake Police Department and my uncle being a Sheriff with the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Department. I have had the chance to hear all the stories and have noticed a different angle on crimes that happen than a regular kid might hear and notice. With hearing these stories, I have been able to tell that some sort of technology is involved with each and every crime, whether it was in a positive or negative way. This has made me interested in the cybersecurity aspect of technology because I wonder what happens to prevent something from happening and if something does happen, what would they do to make sure it does not happen again. Looking further down the line into my future, I have decided to possibly join the ATF federal agency. This got me really interested into the cybersecurity and technology aspect of things when I started reading about certain job positions available. I would love to be part of their human trafficking section and figure out ways to prevent those situations from happening over the internet or at least make it harder for them, and when they do happen over the internet, find ways to find the bad people who did it in the first place. I feel like you can do absolutely anything using technology, so researching and finding ways to make a positive impact in people’s lives makes it easy to be interested in. Cybersecurity will constantly change, and everyone will have to adapt to continue to find new ways to stay ahead and I would love the opportunity to be a part of something like that.
