The costs and benefits of developing cybersecurity programs in a business would be to having businesses purchase a cybersecurity software solution that help access the firewalls, antivirus, access control mechanisms, intrusion detection and prevention systems. The benefits would be when everything is flowing, these technologies work together to prevent cyberattacks to decrease these incidents from happening. The costs for just an overall firewall configuration cost around $450-$2,500. The software for the VPN cost around $10 to $3,500 per devices. Then a vulnerability assessment for a network with up to three servers would cost $1,500 to $6,000. Then having to pay all the employees with salaries ranging from $63,244 to $90,283 a year. Though companies deal with cyberattacks that cause companies to lose between $50,000 and $99,999 in revenue lost. When starting a cybersecurity program, companies need to make sure they have the right set up for the program and have the proper steps in place. The benefits of cybersecurity programs would be it provides the structure and processes essential to control cybersecurity operations and react to changes related to information risk. Another benefit would be, supports the organization’s vision, goals, and objectives. Th allocation of resources influences the cost and success of the program from an enterprise perspective, not as part of the IT budget. The next benefit is it integrates component parts necessary to power the intended whole, allowing for continual performance optimization both functionally and technically(Akridge, S. 2020, July 8). A business to have a successful cybersecurity program is to have a plan of action that is put in place to have a clear business objective. Most program have information that they will need, to use and have protection to have functioning areas would be the business management, legal considerations, and IT. The cybersecurity programs need to have very direct business goals that will develop a controlled framework for the company. The cost and benefits show that it is possible to make a solid cybersecurity program that a business can develop.
