Mod 5 Entry

Throughout reading all the articles, I conclude an order for motivation of cybercrime. That is 1.) for money, 2.) multiple reason, 3.) revenge, 4.) political, 5.) recognition, 6.) entertainment, and 7.) boredom.

I rank for money in the first place because money is essential for life, easy to achieve, but lightly work. So, it will motivate attackers to implement the activities in the first place. Multiple reasons at the second place since it includes multiple fields and has more opportunities to motivate hackers. Revenge is in the third place because when someone hates another person, there is a strong expectation that performs revenge on the hated person. But this case is rare. Political and recognition are very similar to each other. Political usually refers to a national hack or between different parties and recognition is more seen as an individual is unsatisfied with certain policies or activities of a company or an administration. There are not so many cases as well. Entertainment is usually performed by some new hackers to make fun of or trick someone. This is not a very strong motive to engage in hacking. The last place is boredom. This is usually occurring during a special time, such as the Covid period. When one city is locked down, that is too boring at home, so kids or elder individuals are the targets of hacking when they surf the internet. This is just during specific periods so I put boredom in the last place.
