Although I have not fully committed to the specific job within cybersecurity that I want to pursue within the field, a cybersecurity analyst sounds tempting based off the information that was provided in the video. When people try to tell something to consumers often their goal in their pitch is to have the potential consumer envisioning themselves in a sort of glamorous life.
In cybersecurity as well as most career fields people want to build a level of trust. This is important in cybersecurity because people are often maintaining and monitoring sensitive or important information. Trust is something that has to be acknowledged within all levels of an organization from the highest paid CEO in the building all the way down to the janitor in the building that can potentially have access to various information. Organizations have been hacked or exposed for allowing trusted people within the organization that may have had malicious intentions prior to being hired. Nevertheless, trust was broken at some point. Trust is the foundation of cybersecurity without it people and organizations can be often left vulnerable. In a field that is saturated with intelligent minds one may think it would be in their best interest to not burn bridges within the field.
Also, the cultural aspect should not be neglected within cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is a growing field filled with many different people coming from different backgrounds. Cybersecurity is used differently all throughout the world, so people should not be closed off to, or be condescending to information that may be practiced differently. A cybersecurity analyst should be mindful different cybersecurity practices throughout the world and learn how they may be able to coexist and utilize one another.
