Review Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and explain how each level relates to your experiences with technology. Give specific examples of how your digital experiences relate to each level of need.
In this post I will explain how I relate to each of the Hierarchy of Needs:
- Physiological Needs: I may post on social media asking about the best places to shop food for a baby and what I should be looking for in the foods, to get recommendations on what I should start with for my child. I even sometimes go and search on google or TikTok to see what others have said and even comment to see what responses I would get.
- Safety and Security: I have an alarm system in my home, since I work for a company that is dealing with alarms systems it makes me feel safe and keeps an eye on my house if I was home or even if i was away with the security camera that we have. My husband and child also make me feel safe as well since in retrospect they are my family. With this I am able to use the app to view everything.
- Love and Belonging: When I go out with friends, and I am enjoying my time once I get home, I would go through my pictures and post sometimes of the things that we did or even if it is a picture of video that we took. That could be a since of showing them love and for me belonging.
- Esteem Needs: When it comes to things that I feel are an accomplishment, I post them as well, maybe to my Facebook or to my Instagram story. For instance, my husband received his Master’s in Cybersecurity, so I posted that because he does not post on social media, he is more of a scroller.
- Self-Actualization Needs: I can’t really say that I have posted about things in this category, maybe when I was younger, I was on the news for something that had happened dealing with something important and the next day everyone in my county had said they saw my interview that I spoke really well and that what I was saying was engaging and it made them listen.
