NICE Framework: What does it mean to me?

According to a 2023 Statista Research Department graphic, the United States boasts a whopping 755,743 cybersecurity position openings as of February. Given that cybersecurity professionals are in such high demand, there has to be something more to it, right? The Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity (NICE Framework) has an equally impressive breakdown of the vastly different disciplines within an already broad career field. Given that I have been in the Information Warfare field for going on thirteen years, Exploitation Analysis and Threat Analysis has been something I have spent many years on, and naturally, they are amongst the specialty areas I will likely find myself working towards in this field.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, particularly in the “Protect and Defend” category, I cannot see myself working in a incidence response team, nor anything Information Assurance (IA), to include Cyber Defense, or “blue team” work. Fortunately, the cybersecurity field is vast, and the possibilities seem near endless, and only time will tell where my continued education may take me.
