Journal Entry Fourteen: 11 Illegal Things you Do Online

The author sheds light on eleven illegal actions users may participate in while online. Of the eleven, five are very serious and should be avoided at all costs. First, the bullying/trolling of others via the internet. This issue has caused a great deal of damage to include prompting suicide and causing people to leave their childhood hometown. Victims feel they need to leave their hometown or end their life to stop the bullying. Second, the collection of information about children should be prevented. This issue is serious as there are thousands, if not tens of thousands, of sexual predators online who look to exploit these children by using said information. Third, the sharing of personal information about others. Most of us live our lives online and in the wrong hands, the loss of this information could cost us a great deal. People are scammed everyday out of their money, identity, and other assets. Fourth, the faking of ones identity online. Misrepresenting yourself causes emotional damage to the people who are deceived. Lastly, the use of illegal searches on the internet. This is similar to the third item on the list but is much broader. The amount of data online is tremendous and each piece could be exploited if compromised.
