The levels of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs can be linked to human experiences with technology, as its use continues to play an integral role in our lives. Our physiological needs can be met by using technology to help us obtain food, water, and shelter. I can rent an apartment and purchase groceries through apps like door dash without having to leave my house. Our safety needs can be met through technology by using newer, cheaper, and readily available smart home devices. Cameras, lights, outlets, and appliances can all be linked. These devices include the very common Ring doorbells. Regarding the need to feel love and belongingness, social media, and communication technology such as Facebook and Twitter allow people to remain connected. Regarding self-esteem, people can join online groups or locate said groups on apps like Meet Up. A person can also showcase their achievements on platforms like Linkedln. Self-actualization needs can be met by using the many e-learning platforms available online. Udemy is my program of choice for learning new skills. Technology has become deeply intertwined with every level of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. It impacts our daily lives, relationships, and personal development which reshapes the way we experience the world around us.
