Experience

In all honesty, I don’t have a lot of experience in Cybersecurity, or the Information Technology field in general, but I’m surrounded by a lot of different resources that can help me build my experiences such as taking these Information Technology classes to build a foundation of information. Of course, these classes aren’t my main source of information, but they’re gateways that help me understand the basics of Information Technology and serve as an introduction to this major and field since I switched my major from Laboratory Sciences. While these classes serve as the forefront of my introductory education into Information Technology, I’ve been using programs such as Code Academy to increase my ability to code and learn the basic vocabulary words, terminologies and references commonly used throughout the Information Technology field. Furthermore, after completing these courses on Code Academy, another resource I have at my disposal is my mother because she currently works in the Information Technology field, therefore she has first-hand experience with navigating throughout the industry, and maintaining a solid positioning in the business she works for (Capitol One) while also upholding a smaller side business after minoring in Business around the same time she received her masters in Computer Science. In conclusion, since I recently switched my major over to Cybersecurity, I lack many major experiences that would help me while traversing through this major, but I have various resources to increase my knowledge, experience and awareness.
