What is an Electronic Portfolio?

Date 5/18/2023

A formative portfolio is more of an ongoing process, usually showing growth from the beginning of the portfolio to the present time.

The summative portfolio also known as the assessment portfolio is a portfolio made by someone with certain guidelines and criteria to meet to assess the person.

The employment portfolio is when a person puts together a portfolio to gain employment.

The working portfolio is where a person will decide which items are going to be used for the portfolio.  The person will use the criteria or reason for the portfolio to help go through all the items they have stored that make the most sense for the goal.

The reflective portfolio is the stage in which learning is key.  This stage is where the person asks the question  what the goal was and did I meet it.  This is where the article talks about using questions to help the person with what they learned and what they need to improve upon.

The connected stage or portfolio is where the person creating the portfolio decides what software they are going to use.  This can be a way to restrict or help the creator of the portfolio.  The article says this stage is where one can back up their ideas with links to articles or other mediums for support.

The presentation stage is the final stage for the creator.  Here the person will pick and have finished and added all that they feel is needed for the goal of the project.  The person will decide how to present the project to whoever is the audience.

I have very little experience with this e-portfolio idea.  One professor early on in my studies made us write on the e-portfolio site through ODU’s website.
