- What is design thinking?
Design thinking is a way we go about solving problems. This way of thinking makes us think outside the box so we can explore different options that would not have been thought of before. Design thinking is only beneficial if you can look at the problem from different angles to find different solutions. It uses direct observation and qualitative data to begin research. - How has design thinking influenced a product I use?
A product that I use that has design thinking influence would be the electric toothbrush. The electric toothbrush is a very innovative piece of work that has come along because of where the base product came from. From using a standard toothbrush to transitioning to using an electric toothbrush, there is a difference in the brushing patterns. The makers of the electric toothbrush had to use the design thinking framework, which is Understand, Ideate, Selection, Prototyping, and Validation to get to their final product. With design thinking, they were able to make something that had different features and still met their customers’ needs. - What are the connections between opportunities and planning?
The connection between opportunities and planning is awareness. Being aware connects to opportunities because knowing your surroundings is important for how to plan. Being aware connects to planning because when you can prepare for something it is easier to get it done if there is a plan. The way I broke it down was, that there need to be opportunities open to having successful planning. On the other side, you must have good planning to take advantage of these open opportunities. - What opportunities have I missed?
One opportunity that I have missed I can think of is the chance to get one of my certifications last semester. The certification was not a major one but would have been good to have on my resume. I am saying this was a missed opportunity because I could have gotten an entry-level job working with Amazon. I use that time as an example not to be discouraged but to do better and pass when I take my next certification exam. Another opportunity I missed would be an internship I could have gotten If I would have replied back to the email in a timely manner. - Can a successful venture be unethical?
I do believe that a successful venture can be unethical in its own way. I say this because a company can gain popularity with the public and still do unethical things behind closed doors. If there is a steady flow of income, no matter what is being done, the venture could still be successful. On the other hand, morally if the said venture were taking clients’ information and selling it for profit, I believe it should not be successful and should cease to be a venture.
