Fiscally successful? Absolutely…. Long term success, probably not. There have been many successful unethical ventures throughout history. Sticking with cybersecurity for my example, there are many ransomware organizations that have made lots of money. However, over time, their nefarious nature usually opens them up to infighting, attack by rivals or takedown by a federal agency. This happened to the Conti malware group, but rival drug cartels is another example that comes to mind.
