Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?

I am interested in cybersecurity technology for a couple reasons. The first reason sparked my initial interest in this topic, I was taking a state certification course during the Fall 2021 semester at ODU. This course I took focuses on different forms of security risks some stemming from cybersecurity. This is something that has always interested me as I have never studied this subject in depth and due to the growing amount of technology in today’s society it is becoming a more important topic in relation to security threats and technology advancement. Furthermore, cybersecurity technology can be an important tool for investigators in the private security sector. The advancement of technology has aided in the growth of private security as a whole and revolutionized the way that investigators gather information, potentially in a safer fashion, compared to previous years prior to the spike in technological advancement. As this sector of security grows, I believe that it will be more important for investigators to have at least some general knowledge in cybersecurity. Due to my lack of knowledge on this subject I am eager to learn more about cybersecurity as it relates to threats as well as use of technology to assist in case investigation at a legal level.

I am also interested in learning about how the government uses cybersecurity technology among the military, what kind of threats can be blocked. Recently there have been cybersecurity attacks that have impacted regular life such as the current cream cheese shortage and the fluctuating gas prices. This really shows just how connected technology is with basic parts of the functionality of society. I am interested in learning about how attacks like this are created and who creates them as well as why. I have always been someone intrigued in the motivation behind criminal action and intent.
