Recently, I have been working on a few different certifications. With a focus on cybersecurity topics, I have learned a lot of new material that will help me succeed in the future. The first certification I received was the “CISM prep: the basics” which was a course that explained what tools were needed to someday become a cybersecurity manager or administrator. It talked about a very common, but also very important, exam that most cybersecurity roles require you to take in order to earn that spot in your ideal career and everything you need to know to be prepared to take it and pass it.

I learned about targeting a specialization, researching jobs, updating your resume, interview strategies, and so much more. This course actually helped me a lot and I learned many different things to look out for in the future when I am looking to start my cybersecurity experience. I will definitely be going back to this course because some tips that were shared are worth reviewing in the near future.

This course was “Cybersecurity Awareness: Building Your Cybersecurity Vocabulary” and while completing it I learned a more in-depth meaning of many words I have already learned in my current Cybersecurity class at ODU. For example, I learned more about spear-phishing, CIA, threats, and vulnerabilities, these terms are all vocabulary words I am familiar with but, I was able to learn some specific details that I did not learn about before which was very helpful in understanding each term. I was also able to learn some new vocabulary words like DC/BC or disaster recovery and business continuity. This course was very useful and I am glad to say I learned more about my future career after completing it.
