Cybersecurity risks can occur from anywhere in the world and each country is different when it comes to risks related to cybersecurity. A risk is the likelihood of a threat taking advantage of the vulnerability of something. Cyber security risks are the probabilities of a loss due to a cyber-attack. Most things now are switching to online, so that allows businesses and companies to be open to more attacks. The United States is also one of the biggest economies in the world, so it is more open to attacks than other countries but also can prevent attacks with our technology. One of the biggest things growing in our economy now is technology and that opens to more attacks online. Most of the time attacks online can go undetected because people don’t know what is happening to them. One of the most popular cyber attacks in the United States compared to other countries is phishing. Phishing is when someone sends a fake email to try to get someone to click on it and it allows the attacker to gain access to all their personal information. Although technology is booming in the United States and more problems arise, we are one of the top countries in the world when it comes to safety and security. Another huge cybersecurity risk is ransomware which arises more in cases dealing with kidnappings and is a huge problem in some countries. This problem is caused by the rise of cryptocurrency because it allows for the ransoms to be paid anonymously. This attack happens a lot in between countries. Phishing and ransomware are both two big cybersecurity risks that not only happen in the United States, but they can happen anywhere across the globe. Most of these cybersecurity risks happen to everyone it’s not a singular country experiencing them but some countries with smarter technology may have more ways to prevent them or carry out the attacks.
