Four majors at ODU that relate to cybersecurity are Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybercrime, and Information Technology. Computer science deals with the development of software and hardware as well as artificial intelligence thus focusing on how to make the best soft/hardware that provides reliable programs that work for the user as well as keeping them safe from cybercrime. Computer Engineering is also about the development of software and hardware however this particular major is more hands on. But it also provides development that helps protect the software and hardware from any possible intrusion. Cybercrime studies focuses on the crimes that are committed on the internet, or even when the crime may not be committed on the internet but rather used the internet in some way or form. As well as the way the cyber criminals think or act. Information Technology, focuses on the way certain programs work and is all about the data that certain technology uses. What all these four majors have in common is their relation to cybersecurity. In some way they all focus an area in each of the major in protecting themselves against online threats; which is what cybersecurity is essentially all about. Protecting the user from harmful cyber attacks online.
