Cyber technology has created opportunities for workplace deviance in countless ways. Before workplace deviance was harder to execute before the advancements in technology. It was easier to catch someone committing workplace deviance because at first there were not so many avenues one could use online, it was more so in person with physical documents, which made the person committing the workplace deviance easier to track down. Now that technology is so advanced and pretty much obtainable in almost every workplace, it is much harder to track down the culprit. So now employees can cause disturbances without the penalization for it. Examples of workplace deviance are employees using private company information access for bad reasons, using company privileges for their own advantage, or even selling private company information, the list goes on and on. When important information is involved it is vital that the employees have thorough backgrounds checks. Because the damage of workplace deviance can be extremely destructive to a company, and could possibly end up losing everything depending on the severity of what was committed. Which is why it is scary because it can become a wild goose chase attempting to track someone down. The footprint can be non-existent sometimes, especially if an employee is particularly careful. And as technology continues to advance, the more employees will become more creative in the ways that they can seize a company. The more tech advances the more it will create opportunities to for people to hijack a company. Employees who do this should be fined or even charged for committing workplace deviance. And essentially causing disruption in the workplace. This is unacceptable and there should be repercussions for such acts. Workplace deviance can go as far to affect everyone who works in the company which is not fair at all to the people who have to suffer due to one employees misuse of company materials.
