During my time in the Navy, I gained invaluable hands-on experience managing IT infrastructure and providing technical support despite the fact that I was a Hospital Corpsman, and this thanks to a very understanding chain of command that allowed my On-the-Job training in our IT department. As an IT Support Specialist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, I was responsible for managing workstations, performing security checks, troubleshooting network issues, and configuring servers. This role allowed me to develop my skills in areas like DHCP, TFTP, FTP, IPv4 addressing, subnetting, and more. I also had the opportunity to serve aboard the USNS Comfort, where I managed medical equipment inventory and assisted with IT projects.
Outside of the Navy, I have held IT roles at various companies including FinerWorks Media, KLN Manufacturing, and Global Network Solutions. At FinerWorks, I diagnosed and resolved issues with warehouse management systems. For GNS, back home in Togo, I administered networking devices across multiple sites, upgraded systems, designed networks, and provided training. These experiences have sharpened my technical abilities as well as my project management and communication skills.
In addition to hands-on IT work, I’ve completed training to earn key certifications like CCNA, Cisco CyberOps, CompTIA Security+ ,and RUCKUS ICX Implementer. Obtaining these credentials demonstrates my commitment to staying current in cybersecurity and networking. Overall, my diverse background has prepared me to take on new technical challenges and make positive contributions as an IT professional. Whether troubleshooting complex systems issues or managing multi-site networks, I have proven I can get the job done.
