Criminal Justice: is related to cyber security because it teaches what is legal and what isn’t and what society’s response to those laws and infractions are. Cyber security implements a lot of these rules for the internet because there are no police for the internet. Therefore we need to learn the rules and laws of interaction and privacy in order to enforce them. We need criminal justice because without this interdisciplinary knowledge we wouldn’t know what we were protecting and what rules we or others are breaking.
Electrical Engineering Technology: A knowledge of how the industry works, how the industrial machines work, and how the company is utilizing the IOT can help you defend the technology and the products that companies make as a Cybersecurity professional. The degree itself has a lot of overlapping knowledge like soft programming skills. Cyber security and electrical engineering technology both need to understand basic commands for an interface. EET will also need to know safe practices and cyber security for the operation and maintenance of industrial technology.
Marketing: Knowing how to disseminate safe internet practices to a company and users of a platform is important. Marketing will help you spread this knowledge as a Cyber security professional. You may need to know how to advertise and catch a person’s interest to make them read the safe practices you want them to follow. In order to do this you will need to know marketing tactics.
Sociology: Understanding how people think and interact will help you counteract and prepare for inevitable weak spots as a cybersecurity professional. We need to understand the users of devices and how they interact and how they share information. We need to understand the hackers of devices and how they scavenge and use shared information gathered from social media or certain websites that certain types of people use. We need to sociologically understand why people do what they do and what sites they will visit in order to protect the users of the internet.
