How has cyber technology created opportunities for workplace deviance?

Deviance is the state of departing from usual or accepted standards. Cyber technology has created the opportunity for workplace deviance because it is a tool. A tool that is used by the majority of people in this modern world. Cyber technology is needed everywhere and can be expensive for a company and since people already have technology, systems like Bring Your Own Device were implemented. When a business allows its employees to bring their own device for work they can run into a temptation or opportunity for workplace deviance. Employees have an expectation to use their personal device with all their fun apps and games for work, but since it is a private device they can’t be forced to have a mobile device manager installed that lets the company take control and ensure there is no deviance at work. That is a minor form of cyber workplace deviance, but it could get worse. Technology is a very useful tool when used properly but can be dangerous if used improperly or against a company especially if done by an employee who has or had specific rights to data, sites, or access to information. Companies use so much technology and instill the protection of that device and the information it handles to its employees. If an employee were to become disgruntled and quit or get fired and is unsatisfied they could decide to take revenge on the company and take part in some deviant behavior using cyber technology to get back at the company. The Employee could decide to uninstall or break the anti virus software on their computer to let a cyber attack happen or make a hole in the protection of the company. Additionally they could intentionally download a virus. The employee could steal important information and sell it to competitors. If a server room is not locked up and there’s on site back up they could destroy that information and cripple the company. ems like Bring Your Own Device were implemented.
