Greetings, my name is Dakwan Balfour. Originally from Murfreesboro, TN, I currently reside in Chesapeake, VA. In 2020, after seven years of service as an Aviation Ordnancemen in the U.S. Navy, I departed the military to work at Jo-Kell, an electrical distribution company. My current enrollment at Old Dominion University reflects my desire to further my career in the field with a major in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) and a minor in Engineering Management. My work experience has heightened my interest in EET studies and has given me insight into what it means to be an electrical engineer. Additionally, I have a wife, a newborn born in November 2022, and two small jack Russells that keep me company at home. Planning for my wedding ceremony began in 2020 but was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, which ultimately led to postponement until 2021—a date that happened to work out favorably. On the weekends, you’ll often find me on the road cycling, which has served as my primary hobby and passion since early 2015. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my journey!
