Final Reflection

Your First Semester
Tell us how you have grown from the beginning of the semester to now.
I have grown as a student for sure, from learning new study habits, learning how to learn in class, and becoming more communicative with teachers.

What were your expectations for this year? Did this semester’s experiences meet your expectations? Explain.
My expectations for this semester were very high making a transition to college. My semester’s experiences showed to be lower than my expectations. The courseload wasn’t as hard, the teachers were always looking to help, and my time management was improved from college.

What is something you wish you knew 14 weeks ago?
Always do assignments as soon as you see them.

Study Habits
How much time do you spend studying for each class now vs. at the beginning of the semester?
Beginning: I only studied 2-5 hours a week
End: I now study 5-9 hours a week

How have your study habits changed?
Yes, they have in each course specifically. I was trying out new ways to grasp the information. I found a way where I start with the topic and write down all the subtopics and things I will need to know.

Tell us about a resource that you have used/learned about this semester that will assist you next semester.
I definitely go to the Smart lab with all my math problems, and they give me the best help.

What study habits/techniques will you use going into next semester?
The same for all my sciences with the chart; write down the topics I need to know and underwrite all the subtitles and other key facts.

Health Professions Learning Community
This semester you were enrolled in at least SOC 201S, and HLTH 101. Many of you were also enrolled in CHEM 105N and CHEM 106N, and some of you were enrolled in HIST 104H with Professor White.
On the surface these classes do not appear to be connected; however this semester each professor was intentional about drawing connections between content, and subjects discussed. Discuss the ways in which these courses are tied together.
With Health101 and Information Literacy the classes gave me insight on what is out there for me in careers and gave me insight on how to conduct research in my chosen field.

Parallel Plan
This semester we had presentations from different majors in the College of Health Sciences as well as from different majors on campus. This was to give you an idea for possible parallel majors to your current intended major.
Which two other majors would you be most interested in? Why?
Cybersecurity for the money aspect and Recreational therapy as another option if PT doesn’t work out.

What benefit is there to having a parallel plan (or two) in place?
If plan A doesn’t work, you have a full proof backup plan.

How could one or both of these two majors benefit your current intended major?
Both If I make enough money in cybersecurity then I can pay for PT school. In Recreational therapy I have have knowledge about another realm of therapy.
