For example, a common activity in most modules is cultural exploration. During the activity, students read about different countries. Furthermore, the cultural exploration activity is where I learned that certain countries don’t have Internet or dormitories.

The textbook often provided videos to help prepare students for the next lesson. These videos are often beneficial because I am an auditory learner and learn best by listening. Furthermore, I learned different ways of greeting someone in Spanish. For example, kissing someone on the cheek is a formal greeting and a sign of respect. Finally, Spanish challenges my worldview by enabling me to view the World beyond being African-American. Additionally, I frequently viewed the Hispanic culture as a minority.

Engaging in Communities

Engaging in the glob community is significant because some jobs might seek a bilingual candidate. Additionally, travel experiences could improve; while vacationing in Costa Rica, I ordered my food in Spanish.

Interpersonal Communication

Students completed discussion boards tailored to the five modules’ topics during the semester. For example, the assignments included cultural exploration, greetings, discussing favorite seasons/people, and comparing a Spanish university to those in the united states. My favorite assignment was describing my nephew as my favorite person.

Before enrolling in Spanish 101, I could only tell someone my name, age, and place of birth. I know my major, favorite classes, adjectives, and certain verbs. However, writing in Spanish is still somewhat difficult for me. For example, our class occasionally had activities in contaseña where we were required to fill in the blank parts of a conversation. Finally, writing in Spanish became a little easier after re-watching videos taking notes, and utilizing the check answer button in the textbook.

Presentational Speaking

The main form of presidential speaking during the semester was our conversations or flip-grid assignments. Assignments included answering questions regarding emotions and favorite courses in Spanish; students also asked their questions. Conversation three depicts growth as well as challenges.

I believe speaking in Spanish is slightly easier than in other foreign languages. However, conjugating verbs can be difficult. I frequently reviewed activities in the textbook and online Spanish dictionaries to help with this. Finally, I would ask more questions when they arise to facilitate understanding better.

Presentational Writing

Cultural exploration is a common activity in the textbook where students read about different types of people or countries. The exploration activity not only allows students to read but allows them to research as well. My favorite assignment was when students described a typical workday in their foreign country of choice.

Researching is generally tedious, especially in Spanish. I have not yet overcome my dread of researching. However, my research and using different words made it slightly easier to read Spanish.
