A Nurse From Africa

Gbemisola Ibrahim is a registered nurse from Nigeria. She graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with her bachelors of science in biology and went to Emory university where she proceeded to get her masters in nursing. I had the amazing opportunity to have a conversation with her and I learned a lot of passion is needed to become a nurse. While interviewing  RN Ibrahim I was told that it took her a total of seven years to get to where she is now, which is a lot of dedication. Hearing stories of getting a lot of bodily fluids on her to getting hit by the people she wants to help, nursing is a very challenging career. One thing that Mrs Ibrahim said that stuck with me is to always advocate for myself and my patients. After my interview I learned that you need to  enjoy your career, not just for the money but because you enjoy what you do. If the career is something you can do and not get paid for doing it, you made the right choice . Stated by Gbemisola herself “ not all days are good days “, but she still gets out of bed each day for work because making a difference for others is more important to her.  Though I am not in her shoes I enjoyed talking to her about her healthcare experience and I am happy to soon begin mine.
